Newsprint of Tomorow

Updated: 2012-04-10 | Print

The aims are to achieve a more efficient and competitive production process by developing tools and strategies for handling the mechanisms governing surface strength, cockling and waviness in printing paper.

Two major areas are:

  • Achieve increased knowledge about the offset printing process in order to achive excellent print results in modern printing presses with new design and higher printing speeds. Of special interest is to describe the loading conditions and ink-paper interactions at high printing speeds, both experimentally and by mathematical simulations.
  • Quantify the effects of important variables in the pulp and paper manufacturing and the printing process on the release of particles from the paper surface.
